About Wits End - Frequently Asked Questions
Simply put, we are music lovers who love to supporting live music.

Q: What is it that you do?
A: We used to host house concerts and do some admin work for a few local musicians but now we occasionally curate live music performances, such as our Wits End Wednesday series at The Park Theatre.

Q: What genre/type of music are you involved with?
A: We are not genre specific, but we stick to what we know and love, so we tend to Roots, Folk, Blues, Bluegrass, etc.

Q: What do your services cost?
A: We do not charge for what we do. We are fortunate to be retired and comfortable, so this is our way of giving back to what has been a very important part of our lives.

Q: Do you still host house concerts?
A: No, we decided to bring that to an end for various reasons. Instead, we've partnered with The Park Theatre to host 3 shows a year; Winter, Spring, and Fall.

Q Where is The Park Theatre?
A: The Park Theatre is located at 698 Osborne Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on the original lands of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene, and on the homeland of the Métis.

Q: What 'type' of shows do you present?
A: Each show will be unique. The intent is to make each one an 'event' with something special. One thing all of the shows will have in common is that they will be 'listening' shows.

Q: Are the shows seated?
A: Yes. The Park Theatre's maximum seated capacity is 250, however, unless ticket sales warrant that number, shows will be set up for 200 or less to make things a little more 'roomy'.

Q: How do I buy tickets for a show?
A: Tickets will be sold through The Park Theatre's ticketing partner. Visit The Park Theatre website and follow the links.

Q: Are there ticket fees and what about GST?
A: Ticketing service provider fees are not included and are added on top of the face value of the ticket at the time of purchase. The face value of a ticket does include GST.
Q: What about beverages and food?
A: The Park Theatre sells both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Other than water bottles, you are not allowed to bring your own beverages into shows there. There is a water bottle filling station inside the lobby. There are several restaurants nearby for food before or after the shows.

Q: Why are the shows on Wednesdays?
A: For two reasons: 1) we like the sound of Wits End Wednesdays, but mostly because 2) being a quieter night, The Park Theatre can provide a friendlier deal for the musicians.

Q: Who gets the money?
A: The performers receive ticket sales after expenses. The Park Theatre gets the bar sales.
Q: Are children welcome?
A: Most of our shows are kid friendly, but not all, so please check the listing or ask us.
Note: In the age-old tradition of troubadours and folk music, performers we host sometimes express strong socio-political opinions, which we may or may not agree with, but we respect their right to respectfully express them during their performance.
